Seventeen Pens Going to Holland
My brother-in-law is going to Holland to see his dying brother-in-law. He is going for 3 months and will visiting all his relatives and he asked me to make some pens for him to give as gifts.
So I started on Friday with quite a few breaks in between and finished 17 of them this afternoon.
I made them from 17 different species of timber all slimlines.
Species as follows from left to right.
Syrian Batu
Fiddleback Redgum
Sassafrass
Mango
Coolabah Burl
Australian Red Cedar
Mahogany
Tasmanian Oak
Cypress Pine
Broughton Willow
Camphor Laurel
Birdseye Huon Pine
Jarrah
Cypress Pine
Forest Oak
Mallee Burl on the bottom, Northern NSW Blackwood
Myrtle

You have been busy Bazza. Nice timbers and finish. Can't say I like the shape, doesn't sit well in my hand, but perhaps that's just me.

They sure are different when you see the timbers alongside one another,I too choose to fatten the tops more,it gives more weight balance not to take away from your pens though, you will be the favoured one with your family. I received your pm also DJ.s re blanks. Regards Peter

Hey Bazza nice work on your pens good finish and transition form components to barrels. Personally not a fan of the wasp waist bodied pens, but that's just me. What part of the Netherlands are the pens going to? I have two sisters that live there, one in Den Bosch and the other in Valkenswaard.
