ShellaWax Question
Timber Turn'n Geeks!!!!
Im using Shellawax now for my final finish (oooohhhhh yeaahhhhhh). Im curious if you can use a stain on the timber then put the Shellawax on for your top coat? Any problems that I would run into?
What are you using on top of Shellawax for buffing? So far I have not added this to my pen process. I understand it will add protection and improve the finish. Will the buffing compound affect the shellawax's cure?
Any comments?

I was going to point you to the URL for the U-beaut stains, but the products page is currently missing
http://www.ubeaut.com.au/ubhome.htm
gives me a 404.
Any bosses want to correct the URL, or arrange for the products page to come back???

Jim, I also use Shellawax Glow, the finish is brilliant, however, being a natural product ,it will wear off over time. That's why I use CA for most pens i want to sell, the uneducated public wants "shine", so shine we give them. Amos

Glow should not wear off over time as if it is applied corrrectly as it is burnished into the timber and is not sitting on the surface like a coat of paint. Please make sure that you use it sparingly as too much will give you a build up on the surface which will dull in time. You should also not need to apply anyother maintenance coats even of Traditional wax as the Shellawax Glow should last a very long time without coating with softer, non durable coats.

I did a quick search for Shellawax Glow and didn't see any suppliers here in the US, (at least no listings from the name brand stores) Is it even available here?

Thanks for the link, but unless I'm missing something (which I have been known to do), Penn State just has the Shellwax cream and the regular Shellwax liquid, but not the Shellwax Glow.

ShellaWax in USA
http://penmakingsupplies.com/Tools/adhesives.php
This is where I ordered it. Youre right it is hard to find in the USA.. I dont understand that but maybe the folks from "Oz" wanna keep it a secret???
I will only use CA in rare cases now, but I applaud all who make the process work for them! And it is something you should learn to do so that you have a "discriminating mind".

Shellawax gives a good shine, Shellawax Glow can darken the timber a little but excellent shine. Amos
