    Default Shipment of Amboyna

Pics show a long table covered in beaut Amboyna Burl, as you can see I will have at least half too much for my use so it will be cut 5 inches by 20mm square or bigger in square dependant on the width of the sticks, a tentative ball park figure 3,50 each in batches of 8. Only a thought at this stage but I would like to share my rare find.Year or so well dry.
    Any enquiry by PM.
    Peter

That's a lucky haul you got there. Some really special looking stuff. Can't wait to see some pens come out of that lot.

Just did a search on Amboyna as I had never heard of that one (not saying much really, there are lots of timbers I have never heard of) and it is said to have an amazing aroma - does it? and if it does what is it like?

The pics in the search I did look really nice so you have a lovely haul there. Looking forward to seeing some finished bits.

The smell is sort of 'toasty' .. it reminds me a bit of 'Band-Aids' too.
Something else, but I can't put my finger on it. Once you smell it you'll
remember what it is next time. Can't describe it well, sorry.

It is beautiful. A bit brittle, but polishes nicely Shows off whatever you
    make with it.

Wrong person for sensing odours my sense of smell is not as reliable any more which is handy with seven cats, I can change the litter even in the worst case.Bit like when we had babies and my senses worked overtime could have wished to be desensitised then.
Yes it is so full of real top burl, very happy. The last pen I put on the forum was the forerunner of the batch.
Our daughter was chuffed no end by the needle device you made for her. I replied straight away but somehow E Mails have dissapeared out from me on occasions and to blanket send twice may not succeed.
Changed some programs seems to have worked.

My pleasure entirely - can't wait to get into the shed and have a go at the hairy oak - although I had two weeks holidays back in April, spent everyday at work coordinating with builders!!! And, being with the Ed Dept that means no extra time or money!!!!

    Mmmm.. Amboyna.

It has to be one of my all-time favourites. Sadly, I need to get rid of some of my current timber stocks and can't justify bringing more in.
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.
