Great display you have there.
Thats a smart way to use the boxes as a display mechanism.
Good luck with the sales.

Mik
Impressive way to go easy to see sales and stock movement. I noted overseas how many people burn out through lack of sales. We all have to decide just how many pens at home is enough, how many tinker toy gouges etc how many lathes ,pen blanks , naming cataloguing whats popular now, which colours, what kits in fact a thousand decisions to make. You deserve our encouragement and have mine. Stay safe. Peter.

I have to agree with you Peter so many decisions when marketing your wares,no rhyme or reason as to how sales will go on any given day, definitely much easier to make to order ,than making "spec pens" what sells one week may take months to sell some more of ,but you have to replace stock and keep trying for something new or different, especially if you get mainly the same crowd going past all the time .In the end hand crafted pens are a bit of a luxury item and make great and unique gifts ,thats the market we aim for hehe. Real connoisseur's are far and few between in my neck of the woods lol. But Mik you should do well in a shop environment that you have there, good luck with it all. Cheers ~ John
G'day all !Enjoy your stay !!!

Just a thought...maybe less is more.
Having too many on display might lessen their value and actually slow sales as apposed to having only a few very well displayed. If people see you only have a small number they might be more inclined to rush into buying one or two. Might be worth seeing what works for your location.

I first would like to say good luck and I agree with David using the boxes as individual display cases is a good idea. I do the same with pen sets and it seems to add interest in them so your efforts should pay off
I also agree with Ashes that to many can make your work seem more production than one off hand crafted items. I make as many pens as I can but just display a good cross section and as customers show interest I explain/offer to make that kit to there taste i.e they may pick up a E.B made from rose wood and then I explain that I can make it from Conkerberry that they can see in a Churchill kit. some people like the fact the pen was made for them even if you had it made in stock but not on display but others like pick from what you have on display. Remember you can always bring more pens out from the back but you can not hide them once the customers have seen them.
It is a fine balance to try and keep customers happy but I'm sure your work will speak for itself.
Best of luckCheers Rum Pig

thanks guys i appreciate your supprot and encouragement
with the numbers on display, as a wise man once told me 'you can't have a lolly shop without lollies'
i think the photo makes it look like there is a lot more than what there really is, there is only 78 pens displayed with room for another 4 of the better pens in the top row at the back, this would be the max that i would display in the shop, you need to show a range of different styles and colors and woods, thats a lot of ands
it can make selection hard for the customer, but it is still amazing how many people ask for this pen to be made in this wood or resin
i even had the lady for the local newsagents in yesterday looking at the pens, they get people looking for something different in a pen all the time so she is going to send them over to see me - well thats what se said - heres hoping
