    Default Sketching Pens

    G'day Y'all,
Okay, they are not pens, they are pencils. Both of my young'uns enjoy drawing, so I figured I would make them sketching pens. The Missus made the blanks, their favorite colors. First time I made these...fairly quick and easy.

Very nice! I like those pencil kits. I've been thinking about making one for my tool belt. The leads are almost unbreakable, aren't they?

    Great stuff!

Now, who has the most fun? You, turning pens, or the other half, making the blanks?
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

    Karl,
Those have to be the thickest leads I have ever seen. I can't imagine even a klutz like me breaking them. You can also get a pack of 3 different colors of lead. I still have one more to turn (for me). Just trying to figure which wood to use.

Very nice Rick. I am quite sure the young'uns will enjoy them.

Also let Gina know that she has done a first class job on the blanks

    Rick,

Gina did one hell of a job in casting those blanks. I do like the two piece sketching pencil. Check with CSUSA I think they have 5 coloured leads. Have a friend, she is doing a drawing with the 5 colours so customers can see what they are like when I sell my sketching pencil with bonus coloured leads.

Thank you all for the compliments. Don't know if I will pass them on to the missus though....her head is quite swelled from you all anyway lol. It has been nice actually seeing your pens get put to use everyday.
I appreciate the heads up on the colored lead. I will be ordering those today. I also like their version of the sketch pencil better. One piece of wood and has a clip as well.

    Cheers,

    Rick

    Sam,
Thanks for the compliments. I got that kit from WoodNWhimsies, and it was around $6. Craft Supplies USA carries a one piece that has a pen clip and it runs around $8. Word to the wise...if you get the one from WoodNWhimsies...read the directions carefully. One of the brass tubes is threaded on the inside. On the other one, once you get finished, you have to turn a 1/8" tenon to the brass.

    Cheers,

    Rick
