A source of CA accelerator in Canberra
Seems like the Canberra scene is heating up.
I spoke with timberbits about some CA accelerator. Unfortunately it comes with a stupendously steep delivery fee.
This leaves me with a local source.... Anyone know where I can find some in Canberra?
I tried Glen20, as it's 99% methanol and should work, but it turned my cheap test CA to chalk ($2 junk shop CA, not the best to test). I tried pure methanol spray (I have this sort of stuff from when I was into spray painting) and it didn't work either. Stupid crap CA....

Hi Evan,
I tried Glen20 with the same success, both with cheap and 'proper' CA... So I was planning to also get an accelerator. Someone here on WWF earlier mentioned hobbyking. I am not sure what is the shipping from there, but I will look into that next week. We can also put an order together to save on shipping. See accelerators and glues here - Tools>Glue/ThreadLock

I get my CA & accelerator from Monaro Hobbies in Fyshwick. It's between Bunnings & Clark Rubber but leave some for me
It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

Its not a local thing but the ca is good and cheap. The kicker is also reasonably priced.

You can buy the accelerator from Hobby King. It comes in from Hong Kong but is cheap including postage. You will need a pressure can to use it. They can be bought from the US and are reusable provided you have an air compressor or can get to a service station with a tyre pump. The accelerator works really well and last a long time.

I have not used the aerosol version of accelerator but I have used the pump spray bottle from GPW and I agree with dorno. Worth the price and I believe there is no issue with postage
cheers Ben

Dont use the aerosol kicker. Kicker is nasty stuff to begin with, you really don't want to be atomising it. I use it on a regular basis and mostly use the pump or a eye dropper for kicking two bits together

I have 2 small tins of the kicker that I have refused to use because it is far too aggressive when it comes to using it. it does not seem to do the job as required and there are plenty better products to use.
Cheers Ian

Out of curiosity, do you remember when you last purchased this?
I called them up today and they were not aware they had that product, only another CA brand called Nova which was around the $80 mark.
Any chance you could provide more information about what you asked for?
Cheers,
Bismar
