    Default Spalted Wazzatree

I found a large branch that came down in a storm on my property, I havent been able to identify the tree as yet.
When I cut a piece I found it had some spectacular spalting. I cut about 40 pen blanks.
This is the first one I have turned, CA finish.

Theres still enough for another couple of hundred more pen blanks laying beside the tree in the bush not far from my home.

    Great find ... spectacular results.

Can't assist with name of the wood but looks great.

    Outstanding

If the rest of the timber is similar to this very nice find.

Did you have to stabilize it while turning?

Some bits are even better, this one was an average blank.

I had to stabilize often with thin CA, as there is different densities in the wood, and I was getting a bit of tearout without the CA.

I'll have to go and find the rest of that branch, hopefully it's still good.
