Streamlines (including pencils)
Hi everyone,
Here are two matching sets of streamlines. They are all made from spalted sassafras. The kits are Slimline Stylus and Slimline Pencil kits from Timberbits.
I didn't realise when I bought the kits and promised the client that I could make them as streamlines. The pen is no problem because you just replace the centre band with a streamline one. The pencil was a lot more tricky, because it is not a twist mechanism and the streamline centre band won't normally fit over the centre coupler in the pencil kit. For anyone who has made a slimline pencil before, you know what I mean.
Anyway, a big thank you to everyone's help on the forum with suggestions on how to make it work. I had to slightly bore out the streamline centre band, and also put the slimline pencil centre coupler onto the lathe and very lightly turn it down with a skew chisel. Here is the final result - two sets of matching stylus pen and mechanical pencil kits in Streamline style.
Simon.
