Default One from the I stuffed it pile

I turned this Jnr Victor quite some time ago but as I was assembling it I was in a rush and forgot that the inserts into each end of the body are a different size and stuffed it up. I tried to disassemble it at the time with no luck, so in disgust I chucked it in the corner and promptly forgot about it. Well tonight I needed a pen as a going away gift for a work colleague and was out of stock of everything decent. As I was fereting through looking I came across this one and decided to have another go at getting it apart. Wasn't haveing much luck until I noticed in the other end of the body there was a little bit of glue residue inside the tube. Thinking there may have been a small bit of CA or epoxy where the insert was in the other end I tried running a couple of drops of acetone down the inside of the tube being extra careful not to get an on the finish. Gave it a bit of a tap from the other end and hey presto out it came.

I'm glad I took the time now as I had done my one and only (but hopefully not my last) custom finial on this one and I quite like the way it looks (even if I do say so myself).

So here it is back from the dead a Rhodium Jnr Victor dressed in Red Mallee Burl with custom finial. Usual CA finish.

    Cheers
    WH

Now that, my friend, is a great looking pen. Nice save. Seems it was fate, in your friends favor, that it would not come apart the first time.

    WH,

Wish I knew your name sounds impersonal initials only that matching finial sets the pen apart simply love Red Mallee.

Then pen sure tested you as so many can, your final result made a pen fit for your purpose ready to really thrill the receiver.

    Kind regards Peter.

Beautiful pen WH. I was interested in your comment about using acetone to release the CA grip. I spent an hour getting a kit out of a tube the other day and didn't think of acetone. Thanks for the comment as I also have another mistake to rectify.

Just be sure to keep it off the Finish as it will make a real mess of it. DAMHIK
