Some suggestions please
My high school's 50th anniversary of our Leaving Certificate year is coming up next year.
Moves are afoot to organize a Golden Anniversary Reunion and muggins here has put his
hand up to organize memento pens.
I would prefer to turn one piecers so what do people suggest is the mos appropriate kit??
I am also looking to get them engraved or perhaps use decals. Again, suggestions please.
I am looking at 100 pens, according to the unofficial committee.
Never done a large order before! Just turned for friends and fun with the odd sale here and there.

Sierras for sure you could even put a pencil converter with each pen for about a buck each.

Mass production
I did a order of 50 and I was using slim line kits from Timberbits, I was looking at sierras, but cost was a issue at the time, but the afterthought is I should have used sierras it is less work to make them compared to slimlines

I think Sam is referring to this kit from Timberbits Arthur

Hi Artme,
I just completed an order for 50 pens which you may have seen some photos of here in the forums. I chose the Sierra kit for cost and ease of making and assembly being a simple single blank and tube. The Sierra is a good all round pen with a good look and feel to it for the money. I also bought the blanks rather than casting them myself and got two pens from each blank so again this keeps the cost down and minimises time which I never normally have a lot of.
I also chose to apply the decals directly to the blank after machining and then coated them in several coats of CA with a final sand and polish to finish. I guess I could have applied the decal to a painted tube and then cast in clear but I still think this would have been slower than the way I chose.
Having the pens engraved as a pose to decals is an option but again you would need to way this up cost wise. By the way my client loved his 50 pens )
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Tony.

Thanks all for the suggestions and good advice.
As I said One piecers -ie one tube - is the way to go.
I haven't done decals - ever, so it could be interesting.
I think your approach if i use Decals is the right one Tony.
I'm thinking of perhaps getting the blanks done in the school colours.
All will come together in the next couple of weeks I hope!!!
I've sent an email to all the old school mates for whom I have info and
am awaiting their replies before making a final decision.
I'll keep you posted.
Many thanx.
Cheers, artme.
