Thank you Les in Red Deer !
Hi folks,
Just wanted to post a thank you to Les - his dipping method document is very handy.
I have struggled for reliability with a CA finish (and really hate the fumes/risking CA on my fingers/general hassle), so have been playing with some alternatives. Just did a batch of sierras in WOP via dipping and I think it's my preferred finishing method so far - fast (if you do a big batch and don't count the drying time) and quite consistent!
Cheers,
Danny

Did you do it exactly as Les does it, dipping 3 times and then inverting the pen and dipping 3 more times to get an even thickness?

This batch I wanted to see how fast I could manage an acceptable finish, so just did 3 coats all oriented the same way. I had a little build up on some where I didn't take enough care with wicking it off, but either sanded it out or hid it under the clip if it was a pen I wasn't very excited about!
In a previous run I did 4 coats of rustin's plastic coating, reversing between them, which worked beautifully but does take more time and care. Had to stop at 4 because it was building up too thick a layer!
