Tiger Myrtle Pen V2
Hey.
I semi-recently made a thread on a Tiger Myrtle pen that broke and I restored it, but it didn’t look very good in terms of scratches and not being pressed on well, etc.. I took in all of your advice and tried again, so today I made another one but instead of spending 5 minutes sanding it with the lathe on, I spent 30 - 45 minutes with the lathe off going to 1,200 grit and it DEFINITELY was it worth it.
If you're wondering which finish I used, it's just the average 10 coats of Shellawax. I am in the process of getting other finished such as CA, Triple E etc. If you find anything wrong with this please give me some advice on how to fix it as I am trying to improve my skills!
The golden line all the way across is part of the grain as well as those little lines in the photos. IMG_5972.jpgIMG_5968.jpgIMG_5966.jpgIMG_5961.jpg
Regards,
Ben.

Now that is well done. Nothing but compliments from me.

Getting better all the time Benny. The finish on the new one looks much better and the shape is also better.
Keep putting the effort in as it always pays off.Dallas

Nice work Ben, your skills are improving well.
As WA demonstrator Neil Turner likes to reply when someone compliments him on his outstanding skills "I'm just a little further along the road." That is all it takes, practice, persistence and a willingness to take on board helpful critique that leads to constant improvement. You are well on the way down that road.Mobyturns
