Default Todays Pens & First castings turned to Pens

    Hey All,

A little shed time today. First in two or three weeks, I was starting to have withdrawals

Today I cut, glued and turned using my new mandrel saver the first of my Genesis blanks from woodturningz to suit some Triton Ballpoints from Exotic Blanks.
The Genesis blanks are very different to turn in that you hit harder and softer spots when turning. Time does need to be taken to keep the blank feeling even and smooth. The pattern and colour infusion in these blanks is quit amazing.
Triton Components in 24ct Gold and blanks were Dark Blaze, Blooming Lilac, and Cobalt Canyon.
The 2 x Sierras from Timberbits in Titanium and Black Titanium were wrapped in my very first castings using Epoxy casting resin and Pearlex Duo Red & Blue which I have named Dusky Pink with Hints of Lilac.

Nice work there Tony I have a dozen of those blanks from woodturningz ,just too many choices of other stuff to get around to them hehe. Glad you finally got to see some results from your casting setup ,not that difficult if you prepare well ahead of time . Might have to look at some pens to take back to the old countryhehe. Cheers ~ John

Very nice job on all the pens. That blue designed pen stands out as the winner to me. I have never seen that pattern. Thanks for showing and good luck with the casting. You will never be able to look at things the same again. You will always be wondering how that would look being cast and turned into a pen. It is an addiction. There you were warned.

Congrats on your first cast pictures never do those Duo colours justice, as you miss the shimmering effect and colour changes in a still photo. Looks like it came out great though. Yu should have seen my first casting. I tried to use acrylic paints, not realising whatbthe water would do to the resin. It was rather messy
