Tray stand for Micromesh finishing, on the lathe.
This is a tray stand I made for finishing my pens with Micromesh, to save water getting onto the lathe bed. The tray is what the meat comes in from the supermarket, so they are readily available, when it gets dirty throw it out and grab another. For those that don't have access/friend to be able to make the metal base, send me a PM with the size of the shaft that goes in the banjo, for me to make one. $5.00 plus Postage cost. The wooden base is made from MDF, you can choose what ever you like/have at hand.
Underside details, where it goes into the banjo.

Hope this makes life easier, no more covering the lathe bed with towels, sheets, what ever you use.

Hi Matt, had over 150 views so far, and you're the first that can't see the pics, is it possible that your device has a problem? PM your email address and I'll email them to you.

I normally put a little tray under mine when using water and micromesh. But that is a good idea making a tray

Not sure how you loaded the pics, but I had to click on each reference to see them, one at a time which is a PITA
Anyway, what's the advantage of the tray on the shelf, vrs the tray directly on the bed (they way I do it)? Although for a very large lathe I could understandNeil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

I don't make many pens these days, but it will solve another problem that I have using grain fillers. Excellent idea and simple too.

I loaded the pics from the manage attachments clip, then add files, clicked on the ones I wanted, and then placed them here.
The idea of the tray is because I don't have a lot of room to put the tray on the bed, unless I wind the tailstock right out. Now I don't have to shift the banjo and it lifts it up closer to the pen, so I don't get water splash on the bed.
