    Default Turkish Walnut Burl

I received this Turkish Walnut Burl pen blank years ago in a swap. Found a Churchill Rollerball kit in the drawer and though it might be a good match.
First 3 photos taken with my diffused LED lights, the last one is taken in natural light in the shade beside my house.
The pen has a CA finish.

Ticks off all the boxes. It is a very beautiful pen.

Whilst sometimes natural light works better to pick up the nuances in timber, I think your diffused light are working very nicely!!

    Thanks Pete and Gabriel.
I like the LEDs for their convenience and their predictably, 24 hrs a day in any weather, I can take photos of my pens. If you can get the natural light right, it can really make the pen ‘pop’, but I find I end up deleting more photos that I keep.

Thanks for the details - timber, pen type and finish; it gives us new ones a great guide to what is available and how they look. Really impressed with the workmanship (the finished timber aligns perfectly with the components) as well as the photography. Good one!

    Thanks Gary.
This is the first Churchill I have made, have had the kits in the drawer for a few years though. I think they need a bold timber to go with them, I am happy with how it looks, but I didn’t quite nail it. I can remember seeing one that someone posted on here made with Hairy Oak, that one did nail it. Will have to look for that old thread.

Beautifully finished Brad and again I like the shot in natural light, but as you say the lights give you convenience and predictability. I guess I am the type who likes glossy pens which is not everyone's cup of tea.

Thanks again Dallas . I like the natural lighting as well, just have to time it right, I actually took the pics of my Trustone Squire outside yesterday just after the sun had gone down.

The shiney finish is definitely the most popular, so you are not alone. I would sell 20 glossy CA pens to one wax finished pen. I do find it refreshing doing the wax finish, pity they aren’t more popular.
