Wood ID Needed
I need help to ID this wood. I was told that it is a form of pine from Tasmania. It has a nice bit of spalting in some pieces. Here are some photos of the pen blanks. It is fairly hard to cut, yet the sap wood had borer attack and into the first 10mm of the true wood.
Cheers
Darren

Gee Darren, it could be one of a dozen types of wood. Nothing really defining about those bits. Call it something fancy like 'Mongolian Pear', or 'Amazonian stump ash'.
I never forget anything I remember !!
