What the hell could you do with that one piece of wood to add value at that price?
It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

I don't think they are in a hurry to sell it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They say to make a pool cue out of it, I think that you would want another 3 pieces to do that, $400,000 for a pool cue plus labour

You could cut it into very, very thin laminates and use it on a Rolls Royce dash board. Otherwise you could just be extravagant and buy it to use as BBQ lighters. Don't think it will sell in a hurry - maybe he will reduce the price to a mere $50k to get rid of it later.

I think these are lovely and if he gets someone to buy it that's just amazing. The pens made from these blanks will be one of the most expensive pens in the world. But in order to add value you need to ensure no one else has this wood and would need to destroy the other blanks.

The description says its a single piece of wood 1.5 x 1.5 x 18 inches, but the single, poor quality photo, shows a collection of pen blank size pieces. What gives here ?

Anybody expecting to sell a small piece of wood for $100k would surely put up some decent photos to show what you would be getting.

Seems like a publicity stunt to me, to draw some exposure to their website. And I suspect it is working, how many visits would they have got just from having their link in this thread alone ?
Some have probably checked out their more reasonable offerings, and maybe even purchased some. Thats what I think its all about, a stunt to drive sales of their products, they know nobody is going to buy that grossly overpriced piece that doesnt even have its own photo.
