    Default WORTHLESS ???

What sort of worthless is this???

Red Mallee Burl Edge, Embossed Aluminum Tape, Armour Plates, Red Wire and Watch Gears.... No sesame seed bun though

a little overturned at the front, pickies show it up worse than it is, i will have to disassemble and refinish anyway, i didn't notice the divot until the pickies either, i might need new glasses

this is my second attempt at this type of blank, the first one just didn't want to play Rollerball , but well worth the effort i think

all up about 3 hours went into making this blank

    Thanks for looking

Very interesting concept. I like the combination of the wood with the other elements. It adds a bit of variety.

I like your sense of humor. Sometimes we need it when after everything is finished we notice the tiny little scratch that we missed at the beginning.

Mik ! I admire the effort and tecniques put into this pen, some how for me it all seems a bit too much neither one thing nor another , with the work on the metallica part. the wood seems almost an afterthought . I know this may sound a little negative but It is in no way putting your efforts down, I think had you got a bit of wood at each end with the metallica elements more centered that would have worked just so much better for balance Cheers ~ John

    Exclamation

I do like this one Mik but am inclined to agree with John.

The experimentation is worth the effort and you will never know what is
acceptable and what is not unless the boundaries are pushed.

Hiya John, i appreciate your thoughts mate, i know your not showing negativity, just an opinion and thats always good

i know where you are coming from, think about it though, it shows everything that i have done in pen making
    wood
    worthless wood
    resin
    watch parts
    metalica
    embedded casting
all rolled into one pen... i have decided that this one goes on the shelf not the cabinet at the shop

thanks for everyones thoughts, i appreciate them all

I rather like it... and hope that you develop the idea further!

In the first few pix it looks like there's one cog that's partially covered by the timber? I particularly like the look of that... it's almost as though the timber of the pen has been stripped away to show mechanical workings underneath.

    Hmmm...
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

    thanks mate

believe it of not when i positioned all the watch parts, a number of them were partially covered by the wood being a burl edge, but once you get down to size alot of the pointy bits disappear

i suppose you could say that its the Robocop version of a wood pen

i have another one to cast next weekend so keep yours open, i think its better
