Xcut Black Palm Jnr. Gent but!
This pen was not easy, firstly I broke the end while drilling it, so I glued a piece I had to it, then when getting towards the finish I could see that my "joining" was going to allow a special recognition feauture on the pen, also a blowout needed filling. The finish is CA and is just ok, in presence it looks better than under the glare of close up. So if someone asks, "what is that line" I reply, "that is a special recognition feauture incorporated for ease of identification!", well here it is for your comments, Amos

Definately too nice to scrap ! In the end its the overall effect that people see and like, sometimes we are far too critical of our efforts ,when in reality most folks will not notice minor things, In this case it will be noticed so as you say ,its a special feature

Amos. That is an amazing pen.
Where did you source the black palm from?
Is it easy to get? and do other palms look as good ie Bangalo and cocos palms?

Great pen!!
Next time you break one you could insert a piece of aluminium or different timber.

Amos
You got that Leopard tamed in the best possible way, really beautiful final effect.
A request please show your pens without the problems or solutions it is quite difficult to even see your worries and we all have them, it is not how you win the race it is the final result that we see and I might add sincerely admire. When I was a young Electrician we our firm ie worked a lot in religeous places and one such had in the few possessions allowed a device for flagellation much like a horrible cat o nine tails, at the time I reckoned that should dissapear like button up boots, nearly removed it myself. My regard for your standards will not diminish one iota when you show me a beaut pen, any detail on the timber etc is welcome as is provenance like the stick your dog played with.
My highest regards my friend. Peter.
PS As a photographer it was a common joke in the industry when the only pic be it portrait etc was displayed out of focus it was called sentimentally soft.
The badge used by photofinishers was an encapsulated Dung Beetle proudly worn by members, when asked the explanation was dont push that crap on to me.

The crosscut palm has to be one of the nicest blanks around, and obviously particularly tricky.
Very nice.

Fantastic Amos .
I'm amazed you can get a piece of Black Palm wide enough for a cross-cut blank. Where did you score the BP from?Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

The Black Palm came from Arizona Silhouette, they do not ship to Australia, you need a friend in USA who will pass them on to you.
Peter(PenPal) the reason I sometimes show mistakes and difficulties, it is so that newer pen turners realize that difficulties and mistakes can be made by Anyone, and they can take heart and give it another go; conversely, sometimes there are good suggestions on how to get out of the difficulty the next time, and, I am listening to you also because i know the quality chap you are!, AmosGood, better, best, never let it rest;

Nice effort Amos and a great save
I've obtained black palm from Trend timbers - not wide enough to get a cross cut but then the piece I bought was only about two pen blanks wide and I only picked it up because it looked interesting. Could be worth talking to trendregards
