LS positioner thick timber
hi,
sorry if this seems trivial or even asked previous but is it possable to cut through dovetail from the templates using thicker timber ( 19mm) than the suggested thickness?. Checked all the promo viddeos bought my setup just before the dvd was bundled with it

For through dovetails with the Incra system you need to set the depth of cut, then plane the timber to match.
Now, 19mm is about 3/4" (0.748 - close enough), so template DOVU should work in that case.

There is a template generator program online for free download. Search the forum for the link.
You'll need the correct dovetail bit, that is one that gives a tight fit at 19mm/3/4" cut. You might have to dress your timber a bit to match the cutter. That is the case with any system that uses a router to cut through dovetails. The incra/woodrat/leigh/etc only positions the wood for the cut, the bit has to be the right one.I'm just a startled bunny in the headlights of life. L.J. Young.
