Incra T square
I'm thinking of getting one of those incra t squares from carbatec.
I seem to have to fiddle around with the tape measure and square to get it perfect -especially for my box making where 1-2mm makes a difference.
Are they worth the money? Or should I go for a quality combo square instead? Or both?

Have a look at PWS first, I think they sell them cheaper.

Ill give them a call in the morning - I've searched around and they seem to be very accurate/precise. This will help with my box making in paticular.
I'll buy one tomorrow.
From what I undetstand they come in mm and inches with .5mm increments, and just mm with .25 , .50 , .75mm increments.

Definitely accurate and precise but check their squareness (it's adjustable) from time to time. They're quite flimsy, I don't know how you work but if gets to the bottom of a bench-well it's gunna suffer. I made a wooden sleeve for mine. A good clutch pencil is a good mate for it. All in all you won't regret having one.

Yeah I thought they wouldn't be hard to damage.
I was actually thinking about making some sort of storage sleeve for it.
I think I have seen yours if it's the one posted on the forum - I like it

Nope not mine. Wait till you get it in your hand you'll find a way to house it. I went the sword and sheath way

I might make something similar.

Yeah that's the idea. First challenge is to keep the lead in the hole and not have it brake off when scribing a longish line parallel to the edge...not a life changing experience but you got to get your jollies somehow

I bought the set of incra 18" rules from the usa. Not much dearer than one rule and they work well.
The process is different, like some other incra stuff, so it take some thinking to get the most out of them, but the plus is they pretty much automate a lot of marking out tasks.
Some day I may buy a small set for convenience.
I'd start with these:
INCRA 12" Marking Rule Set - eBay Carpentry, Woodworking, Tools, Tools, Hardware Locks, Collectibles. (end time 23-Sep-10 11:19:18 AEST)
I bought mine from that seller and he's very decent.I'm just a startled bunny in the headlights of life. L.J. Young.

Yeah I considered buying one off him - I actually emailed him to ask if he has any metric rules available. But he didn't.
After delivery fees etc it worked out to be almost the same price. I also considered that it may take a few weeks for it to arrive.
I ordered one off PWS this morning.

Ok I took delivery of my incra rule from PWS on friday - I must say they are excellent to deal with.
I love the accuracy and ease of using it, however the bloody pencils they come with are useless. The lead keeps breaking off - am I doing something wrong or do other people have the same issue?
