LS positioner - position

Hi Guys
I’ve had the Wonderfence for a few years now, bought in a sale at Carbitec and this Xmas bought the 17” LS positioner (metric) in their sale also (whoopee).

My current small homemade router table is too short for the positioner and I intend to make a 750mm wide x 1600 mm long combined router table/workbench. Now I’m a “work from the manual” sort of guy usually but it seems to me that fitting the LS base 17” back from the router centre only give a max panel size to route of circa 250 mm. But if I fix the base as far back down the carriage as possible – circa 23” (that is from the front of the W/fence) then I increase the possible panel size to 350 mm.

Am I missing something here?

Nope, not missing anything - if you plan to always use the wonder fence, I have done similar on my table with no problems.

Hi Guys!

What I've done in the past is to fix the positioner to a sheet of 20mm ply and then move it around the table and clamp it down where needed.

Since I was using a table saw extension for my router, I also invested in a pair of mag-locks which eliminated the need for clamping...
