Setting up 1000hd - what have i missed
Hi all
I'm setting up my Incra 1000HD and am curious about a few things.
When setup for square cuts with the flip stop @ 0 all is OK.
When rotated to the 45 degrees mark on the right of the locking handles (standing behind) the fence end is to the right of the blade. Not good I thinks.
After adjusting for this when reset to 0 degrees the fence end is then 45mm from the blade rendering the zeroing out of reach.
When the fence is then rotated to the 45 degrees mark on the left of the locking handles the fence end is 165mm from the blade.
I am aware of the stop rods but they don't seem all that compatible with securing the angled end of mitred timber. Especially when compared to the tongue and groove feature on the stop.
I don't want to have to realign the fence for every cut.
I'm prepared to accept that I've missed something basic - but what?
Now be gentle with me, please.
Ready for a moment.Have a good one
Keith

I think that this is the issue???
Hi Keith
Basically the fence pivots around the centreline of the mitre channel on your saw. Therefore the distance from the non telescoping fence end to the sawblade should be almost constant, Therefore if you set the fence up about 10mm from the blade when cutting square, the distance of the fence to the blade should only be slightly less when set at 45 degrees with the telescoping end of the fence facing you vs. at 45 degrees with the same end pointed away from you.
It's all about tuning it to your saw at the start, the scales on the fence can slide to be calibrated to speed up 90 degree cuts and as reference points for 45 degree cuts. Of course accuracy can only be achieved when working off the one mitre channel. Page 6 of the instruction manual covers most of the mitre set up issues. If you have any questions or concerns give me a call.
Regards
Grahame
