    Default Japanese Sites

    I just found a couple of Japanese sites that will interest some. They are Japanwoodworker and reallyexpensivehandmade


    the japanwoodworker has some stuff at what are reasonable prices. The other is for incredibly overcommitted darksiders who just have to add to their collection. Well I am pretty sure the "signature" ones are the best that can be got but they cost as well. See prices up to US $1500. Mind you under the block plane section there are some cheaper prices that you might like.

    Trust me, they are not the top dollar models.

    And compared to the most expensive plane I have seen here, a Holtey is downright cheap.

    And I'd bet You wouldnt feel much difference between a good, fair priced plane and one of those ridiculously priced ones

    Hi Underused and Schtoo

    Would love to hear more about the price of Japanese Planes and what is available. When I was in Japan last the prices on Chef's knives seemed much much better than what I am seeing today.

    Anyway any and all information is greatly appreciated.

    Japanese tools even look more functional especially the chisels. We could probably have a go at making them here if only BHP or whatever they are these days would actually release some wrought iron. We get to miss seeing that rich fibrous texture that looks like wood. I haven't seen that since i was a kid.

    Hmm, well i need some chisels and i do prefer socketed types.

    Come to think of it i need some planes too.

    I am fine for hammers and screwdrivers and saws, oh, except for a rip or 1/4 rip.
