Default Woodworking texts from the dark ages!

G'day all, I suspect that some may find the two woodworking chapters included in this digital version of a classic historic engineering text quite interesting, I certainly did. This University site also has many other very interesting texts available.

Warning, the file sizes involved are BIG!

I read a late 19th Century book on joinery, it was very interesting. Some of it was rather amusing, ie; sperm whale oil was reccomended for protecting tools, and it would also seem that the 'pins or tails first?' debate has been raging for at least a century.

Thumbs up Woodworking texts from the dark Ages

What an amazing site! I loved the woodworking stuff. It just goes to prove there is nothing new in the world. I will print this stuff off and keep as a reference. ...And where is all that machinery now? Probably turned into bombs.
