Hi, I've been a member since 2009 & enjoy reading posts about renovations, which is my time & money consuming hobby....sad, I know.
This is my 1st post and I have a very serious problem with my house, that I need, and would greatly appreciate, any advice offered.
I live in a terrace house, built on both sides. In the middle of the house is the loungeroom, which, on one side, has a lightwell. It runs the length of the loungeroom, 3.6m and is 850mm wide. At one end is a bedroom window and the other is the kitchen window. Access to the lightwell is through a door in the middle of the loungeroom wall. The opposite wall in the lightwell is single skin brick wall separating us from the mirror image terrace next door, & is only 2.5m high, reaching 1m below the eaves. The lightwell also provides good ventilation, especially in summer. But this makes noise transference from next door a major issue. If they play music, watch tv, even have a conversation or any bedroom activity, sleeping in our bedroom is impossible. I want to be able to seal the lightwell off quickly and easily from any noise next door when it happens. I'm
desperate for a solution.....hang the expense!
Thanks for your time.
