    Default Need kitchen extension idea

    Possibly I can expect some help in getting the concepts clear. Friends I am residing in an old house which happens to be ancestral property. The need for an extension has now become indispensable. The major problem is the location of the kitchen which so far was being used in the basement converted for the said purpose but my wife has been insisting me to construct a new kitchen in the same floor where we live. I am skeptic about renovating a house this old. So what should I do.

    If I may suggest, it would be easier for those in the forum to give feedback if you attached some photos as well as gave more details on the type of construction. Most of us would not be familiar with house construction in Sri Lanka. Is it a reinforced concrete house with brick infill, a timber house or some other form of construction? Also, how old is it roughly? Perhaps more details on where you are thinking of extending may be useful as well.
