In the middle of my renos. In doing so I've taken out the corner of a bedroom that appears to have been put in to allow full height ceilings throughout the room. There were two of these corner sections in the room one on each side of the window where the roofline falls below full ceiling height.

In in removing them I've installed larger beams to carry the load of the two short walls I've removed, so it won't fall down. The shorter of the two walls carried more load than the longer, but the longer on seems to have been placed on the yellow tongue flooring and has sunk over time. The wall missed the beam below by around 50mm. Hopefully you can see what I mean in the pictures

I've placed a bit of timber across the longer wall here to show the deflection in the floor. The darker section is the new bit of room I've opened up.
here is a pic of the deflection

Would this be normal practice, to place the wall wherever it is meant to be regardless of the beam position below the flooring? Or did this one miss, and it's a good thing I've pulled it out? When building it wouldn't have been hard to see the beam position becuase of the nail holes in the flooring.

I'll now be replacing this bit of floor before finishing the room, one of those great surprises you get renovating! Yellow tongue is on the trailer waiting, but it's too hot for now to go and collect it.
