    Default Pit in Slab

    Further to my post https://www.woodworkforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=72526

I was wondering what would be involved in putting is a pit in the slab for working under cars.

I emailed a building consultant company that does inspections and permits.
They told me it can be done but i have to have an engineers design?
anyone had any work done like this before
What sort of engineer does this?
I'm also wondering are they available to buy off the shelf??

It's just a large hole with a slab bottom and blockwork walls with all the usual reo etc
It would need to be well tanked to keep water out (one of my old neighbours had one that used to fill up with water) But as you have been told you really need to get a Structural Engineer to come up with the correct specs for you.
    Hope this helps.

From what I've been told, (but haven't checked out as yet), they were banned years back where I live in South Australia. Accidents from fumes and falls from the top to the bottom etc. So check it out carefully with your local governing body and insurance company.
