Hi,

Our mid-80's brick-veneer house currently has a standard L-shaped intersecting hip roof (13 squares). In a effort to get more light into the house (it has good N orientation but the low-roof lets it down), we came up with the idea of removing the gable roof and replacing it with a skillion roof. This would be angled towards the north and east allowing for high windows which would catch the winter sun, but we have no idea how much this could cost. We're guessing that it's probably too expensive and messy to contemplate, but if anyone had any idea of whether this would be a $25k/$50k/$200k job before we go to the trouble of engaging a builder, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Borno
