I have an extension on the back of my house with a skillion sheet roof which spans 4.3m. I had a look in the roof cavity via the bathroom exhaust fan and the rafters run down from the original house wall to the new back wall and they are 200x45mm and look like hardwood. The width of the extension is 6m and there is a dividing stud wall at 2.5m for the bathroom which I would like to remove. Am I right in assuming that if these timbers are supporting that span for the full length on one half of the space, it would be OK to remove the stud wall to open it all up? The walls I'd like to remove are shown inside the red boxes on this plan.
