Hi I am trying to build a climbing frame for a hardendergia creeper that has ruined my fence that it was originally climbing over.

My plan is to have a free standing structure approx 7.2m long and 2.1m high. The frame will be made of 7mm 20 x 20 concrete reinforcing mesh in 3 panels (2.4m x 2.1m). The post for the structure are 100 x 70 hardwood posts.

I am wondering whether it is possible to put these post on stirrups instead of burying the posts in the ground. If so what size stirrups should I use? what depth should my footings be? and will the stirrups be able to support the free standing climbing frame?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
