Default Crystal Paints decking oil anone used it

I was just checking out the crystal paints website and they have decking oil for $79 10L on sale and was just wanting to know if anyone has used it and could tell me if it was any good or should I stick to the more known brands. I have just over 50m2 to cover so this sounds like a bargin compared to what the other major oils cost.

you get what you pay for.

Don't go cheap. I used Feast Watson decking oil, very happy with it but around that price for 4 L.

What's another $40 when compared to the price of the deck

I often wonder if you do get what you pay for. Take Feast Watson and Cabots they are owned by the same company and the MSDS for the products are very similar ie same percentage of ingredients so why is one more expensive than the other is it just to cater to people that feel the more expensive is better. Do not get me wrong I am not knocking any products but I had a bunnies person try and sell me organ oil for my deck (I would need around $400 worth) and claimed it was the best and would last me longer than all the others and maybe it will. But when you read the fine print from organoil company it will not last more than 6-12 months on an exposed deck which is what I have so the other oils at less than half the price are no better or worse if I get 6months out of them.

    I'm with Gumby....oils ain't necessarily oils.

Even Mobil 1 in the car isn't claimed to last any longer than a standard service interval, same as the el-cheapo Black & Gold Motor Oil. But which one would you prefer to use?

I'll wager that what they are offering is almost pure Tung Oil without much else like the preservatives and UV filtering agents that the name brands commonly use. So it might last six months but for how much longer?

In my experience the name brands SAY you should reapply every six to twelve months (so you keep using the product) but practise has suggested that one can go much much longer than that without significant dramas.
Ours is not to reason why.....only to point and giggle.
