Hardwood floor installers - Melbourne
Doing a renovation on an old Bungalow and am just about ready to fit flooring - which I see as being the single most exciting part of a rebuild project.
I have read as much as I could get my hands on in this forum to arm myself with as much knowledge as I can. I was going to have a crack at laying the floor myself, but you've all scared the crap out of me. I'd hate to stuff up 3 or 4 grand worth of timber (worse still have a daily reminder of it), so I am going to get a professional in.
As such - I'm looking for good recommendations for installers in Melbourne. The job details are:
2 rooms and one hallway totalling about 60m2. This comprises
1 room approx 4m x 8.6m
1 room approx 5m x 4m
1 hallway approx 3m x 2m
Timber: Either WA Karri or Sydney Blue Gum, 85 x 19mm
Install, sand and finish - ideally within the next month or so (unless anyone advises against laying a floor in a Melbourne winter)
I am prepared to pay good money for good work. Selection will be a bit interview like
Skew ChiDAMN!! do you work in the Sth East Suburbs?
glock40sw - got any installers down this way that you would recommend?
I am looking to order the timber next week. Is it going to be more cost effective for me to go directly to suppliers (Looking at Boral, Whelans and Shiver Me Timbers) or have the installer order the stock?

G'day Ben.
Sorry, I've been away.
If I wanted a floor layed in melbourne, There is only 1 bloke I would use.
He is Eddy Caufield.
I don't have his number with me but he is in the book.
We used Eddy to lay the 6x1 red ironbark in the basement galleries of the Adelaide art gallery a few years ago.
he has done a few domestic jobs for us down there.
he has layed a lot of stadium floors using our flooring as well.
If you can't get onto him, PM me and I will hunt up his number for you.Hooroo.
Regards, Trevor
