Joist and Bearer starting to rot at end
Hi All,
I have a joist and bearer that have started to rot at the point where they rest on the foundation. I was wanting some views on fixing the problem. I thought I could fix the bearer problem by putting a stump under it. And I was thinking of fixing the joist problem by cuting off the rotten section and 'bolting' a new (longer) section onto the side of the remaining piece thus extending it to the foundation. Thoughts?!

Bearer......support with temp stump, cut dud end off, fit new dampcourse and ant cap to foundation, replace cut section with new bearer bolted alongside, replacement length should be long enough to span between existing stumps, remove temp stump
Joist......what you suggested is fineOurs is not to reason why.....only to point and giggle.
