I have just got my baltic pine floorboards polished by a flooring company. I removed old lino that was on top of the floorboards. The company sanded the floorboards, applied three coats of polyurethane (high gloss finish), and polished them. They did a good job but there was an ugly yellow mark left behind on a small section of some floorbards (see attached photo). What could cause this? I have spoken to the flooring company and they suggested that it was the natural oils coming from the timber (ie. not their fault). Does this sound plausible? Please help.....
