GPO in appliance cupboard???
Our yet to arrive flat pack kitchen has an appliance cupboard with a melamine back panel.
Should the power point for this unit be mounted to the wall and a hole cut in the back panel of the cupboard for access, or is OK to mount it on the back panel ?
Maybe a point on the wall and a short cable (with plug) to another point on the panel?
thanks.
Phill.

Phill,
I made my own appliance cupboard when I built our kitchen, it has the normal 3mm vinyl coated MDF back and sits hard up against the wall, ie no air space between wall and cupboard back. I cut a hole for a normal double (don't use anything else) power point and fitted the power point into this. Power point is screwed into normal mounting plate on a stud, but you could just as easily just the gyprock mounting brackets (assumes gyprock wall). Looks neat and finished.

Thanks guys, I was really hoping that this would be the best option, as it will be the neatest looking. The flat pack provider allows a 16mm viod between wall and back to allow for out-of-plumb walls, but that should make no legal difference I imagine.
