    Default New Plumbing Installation...Checking price???

    Hi All

    I am doing a kitchen reno at the moment, and changing my kitchen to have an island bench that will now have the sink/dishwasher etc. This will also include gas installaion with the large bottle (aprox1250mm high) and aprox 3 m from the site of oven. The job is on the Gold Coast!

    -Install gas bottle and fittings for new gas oven(which will be backing onto wall)
    -Cut through cement slab to run sewer & water for sink and dishwasher etc (this is a run pf aprox. 1.8m from wall to island bench)
    -Pipes/pipework is copper and fittings for preperation of new kitchen install
    -I am doing all electrical (dont worry.....i am a sparky)

    Question is...... I have been quoted aprox$1500-$2000 for the job, can anybody let me know if this price seems fair???

    Any feedback is appreciated, and thanks in advance
    Please always use a licensed Electrician, any advice given is for your benefit in reagrds to SAFETY. The worst thing about electricity is you cant see it......and it bloody hurts!!!

    Hi chris

    It hard to say .work out how many hours you think it will take and then what you think his hourly rate is .

    It also depense where the water is coming from and where it has to go and the material it has to go through .

    I found the best way to save money is to do all the labour yourself chase the walls for the pipes cut the hole for the waste and have everything ready to go so you pay the plumber for his skills not for mucking about .

    I am renovating a hole house and am redoing the bathroom and adding a toilet i have removed every think and half the concrete slab and chased the walls for the pipes so all the plumber has to do is set the pipes in place .
    think i would have saved about $2000 ..and all it cost me was $ 240
    for the chaser and jackhammer hire ....

    Give it a go this was my first time doing this and it's not that hard .

    Just get as many quotes as you can. You will soon realise what is "fair".
