Hi Guy's

The stormwater connection point is at the front of my house. How would the drainage from an extension with gutterring that sits lower than the exting house have to be run. I have noted that on the old demolished extension it just drained into the back garden, which I'm guessing is not quite legit?

Does a drain pipe have to be run all the way along the side of the existing house from the extension to the connection point? If so can it be run at ground level and use the 'head' in the down pipe rather than having a fall along the whole length (i.e. keep the inlet higher than the outlet)?

If the downpipe & line is in sealed pvc then you can use a 'charged' system. If the existing is in the same & not terracotta then you can connect to it. If not then you will need to go all the way to the legal discharge point.
& yes its' not cocha to run it into the back yard.

After living with exactly the same problem for a good few years, I bit the bullet twelve months back before the serious rains began here. I had searched my brain for all different ideas, but could only come up with one. I got into it with hand tools, and dug the trench by hand, all the way out to the street from the back wall of our residence, and placed 90mm PVC stormwater pipe into it, and back filled. Once it was all joined up, the peace of mind made it all worth while. Exposed pipes mountd on fences and walls will not last like their buried relations, and are not only in the way, but look unsightly.

My tank holds 9500 litres of rain water before the overflow to the street begins as well. Have you thought of getting a tank if you don't already have one? It could well assist you in a solution and save on the water bill.
