Default Advice Required For My Laundry/Toilet Project

    Hi,

Firstly, I have several questions on different subject matter but I thought it was only fair to do them with one post than fill up the forum with several.

My first one is about the Aluminium window frame. Can anyone tell me if this is either powder coated, anodised, etched or something else? I found the link below from using the search tool and Durwood gave an excellent response similair to what I am asking but I don't want to be stripping it down or having to use a 2 pack paint unless I have to.

Can you also tell me how these frames are attached to the framework, as I cannot see any screws, rivits etc that either hold it together or attach it to the wooden frame.

You will also see that I will be placing tiles on the wooden ledge and along the vertical face down to the sink. Now where the two edges will meet is it possible to get some tile plastic beading that fills in that corner area?, they didn't have any at Bunnings tonight. or should I just place in some tile cement and chamfer it off - I hope I made myself understood. I would really appreciate some advice on any of my questions.

    Cheers
    MH

Hi Metal head I have replaced my kitchen window and what a job that was to get out, usually the window is stapled to the reveal (timberwork),and the reveal is then nailed off to the frame, there really is no easy way of getting it off I got mine off by using a reciprocating saw on the inside between the reveal and frame, the fininsh of the window certainly looks like anodised alluminium, but it also looks a bit dark best bet go to a window display center and look at displays and ask about finishes, I considered this also but the window people talked me out of it saying that the natural fininsh of alluminium was starting to comeback in, to get the paint to stick to it the guys that have posted on the link are pretty well on the money with rubbing it back etching with primer then paint but it is a fiddly job and if not exactly done correctly will comeback to haunt you in the longrun, i have noticed some houses with the powdercoated windows and after 10 years or so, they start to fade and have a really chalky finish as for the corner plastic edge strip I used a nice chrome finish in my bathroom thet really sets it off and is available at any tile shops

    hope it helps
