Turning barley twist on chair legs
I have been approached by a gentleman who would like to have 2 legs for a chair turned to include a barley twist on the bottom half for a chair that he is restoring. Just wondering if there is someone in Brisbane who may be able to assist with this. He lives on the north side.
any advice or assistance is greatly appreciated. I have the timber that he has left with me for the legs.
regards

If your gentleman is trying to restore a chair that is part of a set, whoever makes the barley twist will almost certainly need a model chair to ensure the copy matches the originals

Turning a barley twist without 'specialist' machinery is... impractical for most turners.
For a small(ish) twist it's often more simpler to just cut them by hand. Mind you, having a lathe can be handy sheerly for mounting the blank - a 'rotatable vice' as it were - with no intent to actually turn the lathe on.
(If you want the other leg sections turned as well, then that's another matter of course!)
