    Default Boxes

Four boxes. Box 1 maple the insert is blackwood and decorated with the Sorby miniature spiral and texturing tool. Boxes 2&3 are blackwood and box 4 is maple.

    Hi elderly,
Very nice selection of boxes I like the texturing very much what have you used to highlight the texture. The blackwood pair and the maple one are also nicely proportioned.

Well done I really like your box 3, simple but elegant . Is the finial ebony or just ebonised?

Thanks for your comments guys. To highlight the texture I applied colour with a permanent marker while the lathe was running. Once it was dry I rubbed liming wax into the texture and then polished the surplus off leaving the wax in the indentations. I hope this makes sense. This technique was demonstrated at Turn fest by Nick Agar.
The finial on the third box is not ebony it is just dyed.
    Cheers Frank.
