Carving woodturning
Want to have a go at carving woodturning.
Just after some suggestions on powered tools to use.
Have heard that the likes of a dremel can be to slow, and need something faster
Any advise appreciated

Can you give us a bit more insight into what you mean by carving woodturning? Are you talking about things like acanthus leaves on a table leg/spindle? Are you talking about carving around the rim of a bowl?
We could probably give you better answers with more of an idea of the goal you have in mind.
My initial thought would be to buy some basic but good quality carving tools and have a go at some flat carvings before trying it on something round. Pfeil (available at Carbatec in Waverly) is a good brand for quality carving tools.
Cheers,
Luke

A photo example of something similar of what you are wanting to do would help. The thing about caving is that fast or quick usually doesn't happen. Even the simplest embellishment takes the time of planning and the execution of the plan. A simple "oops" and the plan will dissolve into "plan b".
