    Default cedar vase with lid /finial

    Hi guys , this cedar vase was the prototype for the burl one
    I made for AWTEX , I made this one in january this year as a
    test piece for the mallee burl i had in mind for the exhibition
    Turned out this one got first place and the burl one got third
    I was on holiday for 3 weeks when i made this one and spent
    alot of time trying to get it right .......the burl one was made in
    a bit of a rush job ,,,,,,
    any comments and advice welcome .

    Well done getting first place!. Gotta be happy with that.
    Wondering if this is a functional item or more a decorative one?
    What material are the metal rods?.
    Also what is going on, on the underside of the lid it looks very interesting?.

    Yeah Smiife, what did you do to that nut? Or, did you find one already made that way. Looks like a flower....... Great job on it all. Thanks for the pictures. ............ Jerry (in Tucson)

    Hi AB, yeah, It was only decorative, I don, t think it would hold water
    The metal pins are cut from a 6mm aliminum rod from bunnies and
    Polished up with fine sandpaper , the underside of the lid is chatterwork
    with gold paint applied and wiped off while still wet.
    Thanks for comments , and yes very happy with outcome , did not think
    I would have got a first prize

    Hi jerry , that "nut " is a gold earing , and yes it is a flower
