If anyone decides to go for any of these I'd be interested in a box of ten if that would help with the postage cost.
.Stay sharp and stay safe!

Yes, it would be interesting to compare these with the Leuco ones that cost 7-8 times as much. If anything is organised I'll be in it also.

Global Tooling Seeking Dealers
Did anyone notice:
Seeking Dealers - Global Tooling
Look at the last comment on the page. An AU dealer would be nice.So much timber, so little time.

Agreed, Paul, the problem is that this market is not big enough, and this forum is not the right audience. There is not enough money to be made for dealers to be interested.
I would not mind wasting a few bucks just to compare products, but I am already stocked up and not interested enough to pay 50-60 dollars for 12.80 worth of cutters
Even if Neil or I offered to do the organising, it would be less effective to do it from here in SA than from Melbourne, for example. This would not be a great disadvantage but there does not seem to be enough interest to make it viable, even assuming that one of us offered to do the organising for 10 people the cost would be doubled when you account for the two lots of postage.

My thought (unstated in my post) was to get an industrial supplier to furniture factories or planing mills as a dealer.
Then turners could go to the counter and buy a box full without postage, or have them shipped within AU.
Out of curiosity I went to Google AU and asked for "carbide insert planer knives".
This came up:
Stark Tungsten Carbide Tools Limited--product_utype
.:GUHDO - Your Precision Tooling Partner:.
Woodworking carbide inserts and knives, woodworking carbide inserts and knives Catalog - China woodworking carbide inserts and knives manufacturersSo much timber, so little time.

Hmm, still overseas as they are either China or USA.

Yes Paul, that was clear. Those dealers already have their sources, though. The one I buy from imports from Germany. Unless the price to quality ratio justifies it, they will stick to their current suppliers and, because the woodwork industry is shrinking, it is unlikely that a new player would enter the market.
