Sebastiaan, I understood from your initial post that you do not intend to undercut at this stage, therefore my contribution above.

    All,
Thanks so much for the input, it was greatly appreciated and considered during the process.

For those that want to know how it ended up - well, I popped down to Pops Shed and got the same model lathe they use in their classroom, which is basically the same as the Hare & Forbes WL-46.

Electronic Digital Wood Lathe (18X47) 2 HP Motor and Speed Display - Woodturning Tools and Timber, Woodturner Accessories, Woodcarver Supplies, Woodturning Equipment

186Kg, Cast Iron everything, EVS, forward & reverse and 1.2m between centers. Also got myself a Vicmarc VM120 scroll chuck, Jacobson Drill bit and some Carbide tools. The Vermec Deep Hollowing kit is on order, and hopefully here by end of week.

I even managed to successfully turn a tool handle for my new tools!

I'm glad I went the larger/heavier model as the smaller ones definitely look.....well, a bit flimsier. As a side note, it fit into the back of a VW Golf! ( granted, we had to un-box it ) Those cars really are amazing. Thanks again to Brian @ Pop's shed for helping out. Great Forum sponsor and I'm very happy with the service & the product.

I'm now in the market for some HSS chisels, so will post a WTB in the marketplace for anyone who feels they have too many!

    Cheers,

    Seb.
