Thread: so my dogs found a new sleeping spot

So what happens when you start the lathe and cover them in more shavings?

Wimps all round I say. Somewhere I have a picture of our dogs laying in metal swarf. Probably only because there's not been any wood shavings lately and they just want to be near me.

Bobby the younger of my two Jack Russells likes to stand where he gets showered with shavings, admittedly I don't turn.

the older one wont move just lays there. i have a picture somewhere the shavings are about 5cm around her and she just wont move

We lost our dog after 15 years at Christmas. She never liked hanging out with me near the tools until after she went deaf, and even then wasn't that interested. We have a new little girl joining the family next week. Very little. Chihuahua. I plan in introducing her to the workshop early.

Here are my shed dogs

They're laying right in the middle of the crossroads between my welding bench/forge/anvil/drill press and metal cutting saw.

This is our new addition. I reckon she looks like a shed dog.

My dogs love coming into the shed. It's like they want to know what's going on. They come running especially when they hear the hiss of compressed air and they try to attack the air nozzle. One dog especially likes the rattle of a spay can but then does nothing with it when I give her the empty ones If I leave the shed door open the younger dog brings in all manner of toys, old bones etc and wants me to play fetch with it so when I walk past the door I will boot a ball out and it's game on. Sometimes we play hide and seek i.e. put the dogs inside or out and hide some treats or a ball inside or out. After a long while they have a snooze on the floor right where I need them least to be. Still good fun though.

Many thanks to all you coves for this great thread. Off the farm now and in a Sydney flat I am enjoying the rest but do miss having dogs. Have many golden memories.
Mum gave me my first, in 1933, a Border Collie, "Bonzer", great mate. When I started school I rode and Bonzer cantered behind.
In my teens, he died and I have worked Kelpies since, great dogs.
