    Default Epoxy Resin

Been playing around with some resin. Does anyone know of a decent priced resin (pref epoxy) supplier in oz?

Our local Bunnings were getting rid of an 'unknown' brand of epoxy, when I was in today. Marked down to $10 a tin.

    Maybe check your local Bunnings?

I use Megapoxy HX (low exotherm version of H) check for a distributor near you here http://megapoxy.com. It only comes in 5 and 20 litre kits though, for 5 litres it was around $35/litre and 20 litres it was around $20/litres, but it has gone up recently.

The Platnum brand on ebay is a good price and fine if you're not doing thick pours , ie fine for casting pen blank slabs etc .You can buy it in small volumes .

Never heard of it. Is it a clear casting resin or a epoxy coating system? Where from? Be careful of Epoxies off Ebay, they are very critical to proportions, with some having troubles setting properly.

its a 2 part epoxy putty. you mould it together like play dough and when it dries I believe it goes resin hard and you can sand it and so forth.

Platinum epoxy is a clear casting epoxy. I used it when I first started off and had no problems with it , then changed to Megapoxy HX which now costs $110 for 4 liters from the factory ,Vivacity Engineering .
The staff there are very enthusiastic about their product and wanted to know what I was using it for , so when I purchased my second batch from them , I took a few samples along to show them and managed to sell them a hybred pen which defrayed the cost of the resin a bit . The pen now sits on their sample shelf .

The more you buy the less you pay. I buy 20-30 litres at a time and it delivered to my door around $20 per litre.

That's different. Where did you get it and how much if you don't mind me asking

I have used something similar for car repairs but a dark grey/black product bought in a small tube

    Hi Guys
What is the shelf life of the Megapoxy in its liquid form?
When cured is it food safe?
I have been trying to hold off starting to use epoxies, but have too much "good" timber scraps laying around cluttering up the cave(yeah I know it will be another slippery slope, but better than wasting a resource!).

I thought that Milliput was mention on the forum in the past. I have not tried this but do see an advantage when using this on a piece that is not round as you don't need to build a wall around the void. I watch Peter Brown on his youtube channel do exactly this on a bowl.

Not the best example of milliput. It does give a very resin type finish.
