    Default Guitar Bridge Pins

I bought these "ebony" bridge pins for my guitar on Amazon. I was shocked at how badly they are made. They don't feel like ebony either. I've worked a little bit with ebony when I made the guitar fretboard. It was extremely dense with very tight grain. Not sure how it turns though.

    Here's the ad: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07ZQQF...t_details&th=1

They must have found six good ones for the ad.

    Here's what I received. I've returned them.

Is the timber Ebony, or ebonised wood? In other words, faked Ebony.

Have you thought of turning up those pins, then ebonising them to a blackened state, or is that not an option?

    They do look terrible.

Hi Mick. The ad says "pure ebony", but who knows what they really are? I thought about sanding and polishing the heads on my lathe, but they were so deformed the finished head diameter would hve been too small. I'm considering making my own from real ebony.
