Thread: Inside out turning?

What is inside out turning?
Sounds interesting, just have not heard of it before.

I later decided that I didn't like the blue candle and searched all over for a red one. No luck, so I made one and I think it looks much better?

Easy to make too. Start with any old lump of wood about the right size. Turn the 2 halves. I put a bung in the bottom half so if the candle got stuck I could poke it out.

Warm some wax up. I used one of a pair of red jobbies. Instead of trying to pour from the pan I used a small glass yogourt pot. I made it much easier.

Put the 2 halves together and carefully pour the wax in the top. I almost filled the bottom half before putting them together. Make sure the wick is fairly straight too. Then walk away and leave it for several hours to cool properly.

Prize the top off and see if it worked

And bingo, you got yersel a nice round red candle

Going on from there. I want to try to do something similar, but with 8 sections?

The idea of it all has sure got potential. Not sure about a vase designed for "flowers that aint gonna last long" though. Not really convinced on his "spiralling cutter" either.
Good luck with your 8 section one and it would be nice to see what your results are.
Thinking that it would be advantageous to at least have some nice sort of shapes/design in mind before tackling such a project rather than making it up as you go.

Reckon the candle holder in the above pics was thought through a bit more thoroughly before making it than the one in the utube vid.

Not too sure about this but I would think you would need 9 pieces, 3 x 3 to make the square.
